ABOUT
I would firstly describe myself as a colourist who has an absolute passion for vibrant colour and pattern and secondly a textile artist with a deep love of textiles.
Moving to South Africa & living in Cape Town for almost 20 years was pivotal in my creative career as I found myself totally immersed in colour & wonderful patterns which were intensified by the brilliant clarity of the light.
The whole experience was life changing in so many ways & had a direct effect not on my creativity & appreciation of the joy & power of colour, but it also taught me how to become resourceful as materials were often scarce or unavailable. I learnt how to become creative at recycling and upcycling as I worked with women from the poorer rural areas assisting them with designing and creating quality hand made items that would enable them to generate a regular income.
During this time in my teaching career I also became aware of the direct connection between creativity & colour & our overall sense of health and well being, both on a mental & physical level.
On returning to live in the U.K. I studied this connection and have since qualified in Holistic Design ~ wellbeing through creativity & colour.
I am currently working on various projects using mainly recycled and upcycled materials that include textiles, stained glass mosaic, acrylics, decoupage & photography.
I am also in the process of designing Creative Wellbeing workshops.
